Overview TRC's health effects team is part of the Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHS) practice within TRC and is a leader in toxicology, exposure science and risk assessment. The team is led by Dr. Dennis Paustenbach, a board-certified toxicologist and industrial hygienist with nearly 40 years of experience in risk assessment, environmental engineering, toxicology and occupational health. Dr. Paustenbach and his team provides expert witness testimony and analysis of the health effects of chemicals in sediments, air, soil, consumer products, foods, groundwater, and the workplace. The Company's expertise ranges across the fields of exposure science, epidemiology, chemical and biomedical engineering and radionuclides. We are seeking a PhD Toxicologist/Pharmacologist who wishes to use scholarly approaches to answer complex exposure and human health risk-related questions. Our vision is to engage with the most intellectually curious scientists to provide data-driven solutions to our clients. We approach each project in a collaborative, fast-paced environment to meet client needs. We are committed to maintaining an environment in which all of our team members feel respected and empowered to succeed. We currently have offices in Boulder, Colorado; Jackson, Wyoming; and Costa Mesa, California. Candidates new to consulting are strongly encouraged to work in the Jackson office for a period of time. TRC is seeking highly motivated Ph.D. candidates for full-time positions. M.S. candidates will be considered based on background experience. This is an excellent career opportunity for candidates who wish to work in a professional science field in a non-laboratory setting. In this role, you will work on projects involving aspects of toxicology, epidemiology, industrial hygiene, and conduct risk assessments on a wide variety of chemicals. As part of a team, you will provide scientific support to senior consultants on many diverse projects related to evaluating human health risks from occupational and environmental exposures. Candidates who apply should have the strong desire and ability to work in a fast-paced environment, learn about and research a wide range of related scientific disciplines, and combine this information, along with their knowledge, skills, and experiences, to identify solutions to human health risk challenges. Most projects encompass exposures to chemicals in the workplace, community, or via consumer products, as well as some aspects of toxicology, epidemiology, science in the courtroom, and/or the application of regulatory approaches to quantitatively characterize risks posed by chemicals. There is a heavy emphasis on reading and writing in this position, and candidates who apply should have proficient writing skills for technical and lay audiences, as well as a desire to work in a writing-intensive environment. This is a unique opportunity for someone interested in a steep 4-8 year learning curve to be on the ground floor of an expanding department. Those with some experience in consulting are preferred, but new graduates are also encouraged to apply. Responsibilities
