Role/Responsibilities

The Senior Data Engineer will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining data solutions using Palantir Foundry. This position is essential for ensuring the high availability, performance, and reliability of our data systems, and will significantly impact our operational analytics and data science initiatives.

Solution Design And Development

  • Understand business requirements and define data requirements.
  • Identify enterprise data sources and plan, design, and build data acquisition from sources.
  • Define data models and taxonomy, design data ingestion pipelines, normalize, transform, and consume data using Palantir.
  • Connect diverse data sources to develop and maintain data ingestion and consumption pipelines within Palantir.
  • Derive data insights using platform capabilities for operational analytics and data science use cases.
  • Develop data insights, data mining, and support AI/ML use cases training and deployment.
  • Create design artifacts to describe technical components of solutions for long-term maintenance and support.
  • Participate in sprint planning to provide estimates for assigned work.
  • Support End-to-End testing with client systems interfacing with solutions in Palantir platform.

Operations And Troubleshooting

  • Maintain and operate Palantir-based systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability.
  • Proactively monitor and resolve issues, optimizing system performance and workflows.
  • Drive incident management processes, including root cause analysis and long-term resolution strategies.

Collaboration And Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with business teams, data scientists, and analysts to understand requirements and deliver actionable insights.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to align goals, priorities, and timelines.
  • Partner with Palantir and other technology providers for support and integration.

Innovation And Continuous Improvement

  • Stay updated on the latest Palantir platform capabilities and industry best practices.
  • Identify automation, optimization, and innovation opportunities within the platform and workflows.
  • Provide thought leadership and contribute to the broader data strategy.

Skill Requirements

Proficiency With Palantir Foundry

  • Experience working with large datasets, including knowledge of distributed computing tools like Apache Spark.
  • Proficiency in using Code Workbooks or Pipeline Builder to write and execute Python, Java, or SQL scripts for data processing.
  • Ability to model and organize data into an ontology within Foundry, creating logical structures for easy data access and use.
  • Strong understanding of integrating data from multiple sources into Foundry, including ETL/ELT processes.
  • Experience in building, managing, and optimizing data pipelines in Foundry.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and version control (e.g., Git).

Palantir Data Governance And Security

  • Understanding of implementing and utilizing data lineage features within Palantir.
  • Knowledge of setting up and managing data access controls within Palantir, ensuring compliance with data governance policies.
  • Experience ensuring data usage complies with organizational and regulatory requirements.

Data Analytics And Visualization

  • Hands-on experience in creating dashboards, reports, and other data visualizations using Palantir tools such as Contour and Quiver.
  • Experience conducting complex data analysis, including statistical and predictive modeling.

Collaboration And Workflow Automation

  • Familiarity with Palantir collaboration features to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to design and implement automated workflows within Palantir.

Other Requirements (Optional)

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and related data services.
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies and experience working in Agile teams.
  • Prior experience in deploying Palantir solutions at scale.

Certifications & Experience

  • Palantir Certification(s) (e.g., Foundry Data Engineer, Foundry Application Developer, Foundry Data Scientist, AI Engineer)
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with Palantir Foundry or other Palantir platforms.
  • At least 5 years of programming experience in Python, SQL, or Java essential for data analysis and manipulation.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range Minimum: $92,000 per year

Pay Range Maximum: $189,200 per year

Compensation and Benefits

A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their work location, skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses subject to company policies. In addition, this role is eligible for the following benefits subject to company policies: medical, dental, vision, pharmacy, life, accidental death & dismemberment, and disability insurance; employee assistance program; 401(k) retirement plan; 10 days of paid time off per year (some positions are eligible for need-based leave with no designated number of leave days per year); and 10 paid holidays per year.
