Job Description
This position has an Individual Occupational Requirement: Applicants who meet the Individual Occupational Requirements described below are fully qualified for the specified entry grade and must also meet the specialized experience requirements. Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. OR Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown above, plus additional education or appropriate experience. You qualify for this position if you meet the basic requirement listed above and possess the experience as described below: Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Gathering, processing, and converting raw and unstructured data from a variety of systems and databases into clean, organized information. Performing quantitative and qualitative analysis and data quality assurance using statistical software and computer programs (e.g., R, Python). Conducting exploratory analysis using machine learning and AI. Identifying and assessing relevant data sources' validity and reliability to meet project needs. Preparing reports using machine learning, programming, and data visualization skills to present findings. Developing training materials or other tools to assist managers in utilizing data and reports that are produced. Ensuring comprehensive documentation regarding all data and analyses produced. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 07/14/2025. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
